 Wire Brush Manufacturing

brushes

A wire brush is known by many names, such as spiral, tube, flue, bottle, pipe, boiler or power brushes. They all represent the same brush construction. In essence, a piece of wire is doubled over and bristle material is inserted between the fold of the wire stem. The wire stem is then twisted into a brush. Ends of the brush can vary, depending on your needs. For example, a brush can have a cut tip, rounded tip or bristled tip. It can have a long end or handle, a short end, one with a ring, loop or cut.

Metal brush manufacturing is a forte of Gordon Brush. The 11A, 22A and 33A Series brushes are the same style aluminum handles, with one, two or three rows of bristles. Our metal brush is available with soft Stainless Steel (SS) or soft Brass (B) material. These brushes are great for fine detailing and fitting into tight areas. The fibers are hand laced for better fiber retention and durability.

All metal and wood handle brushes can be used in ESD sensitive environments as long as the brush remains saturated in liquid and the user is grounded. It is recommended that the brush be tested on the required application to confirm ESD compatibility.

The various materials listed below are available in a variety of lengths and diameters.

Wire Materials

Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel is a highly corrosion-resistant wire to be used where contamination or rust is a problem. The Stainless Steel Gordon Brush uses ranges from extremely soft to stiff. The fine, .003" diameter, wire is excellent for burnishing without removing the base material. Rust-proof and very strong, Stainless Steel is used to prevent harmful ferrous deposits on brushed parts. It is non-shedding.

Brass
Brass is a softer wire than stainless steel, yet ideal for uses that include burnishing, polishing, non-sparking static removal and some deburring and material removal. Gordon Brush uses wire diameters that range from extremely soft to stiff.

Phosphor Bronze
Phosphor bronze is a non-sparkling metal that is stronger than brass and lasts longer. It resists corrosion and fatigue due to flexing.
