A wheel brush, also called a power brush, is attached to grinders or other machinery that rotates the brush at high speeds to remove material or debris. A wheel brush is typically shaped like it sounds, with metal, synthetic, or natural bristles fanning out in a wheel shape from a metal center. The metal bristles can fan out as a group of individual wire strands, or as a grouping of wire strands twisted together. The wire strands can be twisted for 2/3 of the wire length, or cable twisted together for the full length. Wheel brushes are usually made with stainless steel or carbon steel, but are also made with synthetic and natural bristle materials such as polyethylene or tampico for less abrasive cleaning and finishing. Wheel brushes come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with small to large arbor holes and short to long bristle lengths, and are made with straight or crimped wire material. |
