Welding brushes are
brushes typically small in nature that one can hold in their hand to
perform work. The brushes are usually made by stapling bristle into the
handle (like a block brush), hand tying the filament, gluing the bristles
into the brush head (an Applicator brush), or stamping closed the edge of
the brush head where the bristles are inserted (an Acid, Artist, or Pencil
brush). Hand held brushes can be also made by inserting bristles into wire
that is twisted.
The size of a welding brush reflects the measurement of the handle's length, width and height or diameter. The handle can be a small as 1/4" (6.4mm) in length, as small as 1/4" (6.4mm) in width, and the height must be at least 1/4" (6.4mm) for conventional stapling. For Anchor Set brushes (like your ordinary toothbrush), the height may be as small as 1/8" (3.2mm) and as long as you want. For round handles, the smallest handle diameter is 1/8" (3.2mm). The style of the handle can be square, rectangle, triangular, round, or any combination thereof. The trim length on any of these brushes can range from as short as 1/16" (1.6mm) to as long as 6" (152mm). These measurements hold true for any bristle material.
